Traveled from Houston to Dallas. Cheap and fast.
What a complete joke, I bought a ticket and when i get down there they tell me they cant provide a bus to where i'm going because 3 of there buses broke down. And when i tried to ask when is the next bus coming she gets a attitude with me and tells me she cant help me right now. Luckily Greyhound had buses going to where i was going and i got there on time. With Great customer service. Don't ride megabus they will play around with your trip and money, You do better riding with Greyhound.
I traveled between Houston and Baton Rouge these months. If you take the bus in the morning or afternoon, it is good. The bus is more comfortable and cleaner than greyhound, and the ticket is cheaper. As low as 14 dollars for one way from Tuesday to Thursday. 31 dollars from Friday to Monday. In that case you may consider drive your own car or rent a car. The bus drivers are always nice and helpful. For night bus, the waiting room will be closed and downtown area is not really safe like all other American big cities.
Enjoyed ride to San Antonio, TX. The view, and return back with no problems. Didn't have to worry about driving, traffic or anything, really. It was wonderful and was in another town in a few hours. All on a timely fashion.
I have had really good experiences with Megabus so far both in Texas and Scotland. Delighted that Austin now has a nice building to wait in but I have only given them 4 stars because of a few things I don't like. 1. In both Austin and Houston you still have to line up outside in all weathers to actually BOARD the bus.2. They really need a nice waiting room in Houston especially when you arrive downtown at 1:10am from Austin and are just kicked out onto a scary street. A few of us tried to wait inside the gates for our ride this past trip and the driver walked right past us and rudely started to lock the gates without even letting us know we needed to move out onto the pavement! I had to run up and ask to be let out. 3. The A/C is always far too cold and not adjustable from each seat so I've learned to at least dress light, bring a warm coat and not reserve a window seat! Luckily so far, I haven't experienced tardiness, broken A/Cs or switched buses. In Scotland it's a fantastic service ...especially from Glasgow to Edinburgh because there are SO many buses at the bus stations and the other two competing companies let you go on their bus if you get there earlier than your booked reservation. They are all comfortable so it's a delight and super cheap way to travel.If you book far enough in advance the prices are still unbeatable. I got down to Houston from Austin a few Saturdays ago for $6.00 + $2.50 booking fee. This Monday night it's going to be $16 and $20 return trip on the Friday morning plus the one-time $2.50 booking fee...which isn't bad for only booking 4 days in advance.
