A nice green space in downtown Houston. They do a good job of breaking up the space and making each area interesting. they typically have unique art displays and shows going on throughout the year in the green space. Ice skating in the winter is pretty cool too. there is a small play area for kids but I wouldn't necessarily say it's a great place for families to spend the day as much as get a break from City life for a short period of time.
This is a lovely park and green space right next to the George R. Brown Convention Center and just east of the main part of downtown. This area has seen a lot of gentrification with new town-homes and apartments so this is a good place for them to get out and walk or take in the air. There is a small fenced dog park and many tree lined walkways. Public restrooms are clean and easily accessible.
I love when they showcase local artists. The interactive art projects are the best because you get to bring the family out and enjoy a nice stroll through the park. Summer Nights are the best and movie nights are a must. The website provides lots of info on upcoming events. So if you are looking for something to do downtown Discovery Green is a good place to check out.
Cool unique place to take the family, friends, a hot date, whatever :) There is a cool small pond that they do different things with, in the winter its an ice skating rink, in the summer its available to rent kayaks and go out on the water. They have rc boats you can rent and play with on the water also. Great playground for kids, sprinklers are fun also. They have food carts/stands. A couple of restaurants. Large grassy area to play on or just lay on and enjoy the sun. All together this a really nice play to and enjoy the city life!
We go here several times a year to see some new installation, last night we went to see the loops across the street. But discovery green had Gust, going on currently and it's better. Always enjoy going there. Even if only to watch people,eat something at Phoenicia nearby or at the Grove. So many spaces here so shade can be found or sun or both. Wide variety of possibilities.
