I rented a yaris for 9 days 22nd-31st for a visit in texas. Price was good so chose dollar. When i picked up car the staff wasnt so friendly and then the lady seemed upset i declined the extra insurance. What really made me upset was they charged me an additional $85 for a "cleaning fee"! What?! I called to complain because car was not that dirty at all! This is a fraudulent charge and i will never use dollar again!
I prepaid for my rental and went to pick up the vehicle and they had no records of the payment I had to show them on my AMEX and Dollar receipt via email and then they said there was nothing they could do. They charged me full price again. This is so frustrating as a customer and no customer service was offered to help. I went back to the desk and I had to keep asking for another manager then someone came in and was able to resolve the issue after almost 2 hours. I received a clean Vehicle. However the fees did not match what I was quoted and still was higher than what I was told I was gonna have to pay. I had payed probably 10% more for no apparent reason.
Had the absolute worst first time experience renting a car. Reserved the car via Expedia for over 100 bucks (time period and insurance). Cool this is gonna be cheap. Nope. Nopenopenopenope. Got charged twice by Expedia then dollar charged me another 250 (84 for additional charge(no details on what else is charged) 28 for not being 25yo and another 95 for the three days I reserved it for which i reserved for 17 per day on Expedia. I dont think I will ever rent a car again nor will I ever use this place. Dollar, you guys are the absolute worst and I cant help but feel you robbed me. Total cost for a 3 day car rental was over 500 dollars. Dont bother reserving through Expedia, at that point you are just giving away free money.
The hidden fees are ridiculous and the customer service is zero out of 10. The online price is a lie compared to the actual price. Don't waster your time with Dollar Rent a Car because they will waste your time and money in return.
I was greeted cheerfully before I even got in line and offered a free bottle of water. The process was quite possibly the fastest and most hassle free rental car pickup I've ever had. Way to go, Dollar!
