John Kirby Allen is buried here. The weather was dreadfully hot the first time I visited. Two older men were seated on a nearby house porch happily playing chess. I'll always remember that moment and regret not taking a picture. If you're interested in the history of Houston, I recommend doing a drive by. I posted a photo from my last stop.
