WORST hospital Ive been to in my entire life. Im not from Houston. Unfortunately I was having a miscarriage. I came for an appointment for surgery and was told that my clinic didnt communicate with them at Ben taub (which is also a terrible clinic) so there was no surgery happening. The minute I came in, there were problems. The front desk lady sent me to the wrong place. She asked me where is my appointment... um isnt she supposed to tell me where to go? I was confused because Id never been there so why ask me and give attitude? Also when I checked in registration, the lady gave me attitude saying you shouldnt tell me you came for surgery, otherwise I would have sent you to the third floor okay? I cant say why Im there? Anyways, I had to wait another week for the surgery but couldnt wait anymore yesterday. I checked in at 5pm yesterday at the ER and barely getting home today at 8:30am. Thats 15 HOURS TOTAL! I had a lot of bleeding and cramping. Long story short, when I first came in, I asked the front desk guy (a security) where the ER is and he was explaining to me where it was and started laughing because I was in a rush and wouldnt let him finish. My mom told him whats funny? I was in a lot of pain, screaming and whining and the ladies/nurses who worked there were laughing at me while I was in my room feeling the worst. How is that professional? 3 different people had to take my vitals because I was there for so long. My mom kept complaining about the wait and they just got more angry and gave attitude as if Im not the one bleeding and having a miscarriage. They took a while to give me pain medication. I guess they wanted to see me suffer a little. When I finally see the gynecologist, she was very nice and helpful but she seemed busy and she had planned to do another ultrasound on me to make sure my uterus was clean but she came back with her things in her hand ready to leave and pretty much told us that she thinks Im fine to go home.... she should have done it, just to make sure but of course this hospital is just overall garbage. They probably think they can treat anyone terrible since its mostly low income people who come and think they cant demand/sue them. Theres more that I left out but its way too much to write down. I lost two days of work and I am just shocked at how this hospital is. I even had to come back so they can fix my work note. I remember when I asked for a work note, the lady said For what? Like obviously for work cause I was there ALL EVENING AND NIGHT. I wanted to go home but they wouldnt let me but when it was time for the doc to go home, apparently its okay. Also it seems like theyre good at just saying for what? For everything you ask. No food, was freezing, no pillow. It felt like a jail cell with the 4 walls I was in for hours. DO NOT COME HERE. I regret coming here. CLOSE THIS PLACE DOWN ALREADYUpdate: the top plastic part of where they stuck my iv fluid, is swollen and pus is coming out. They left in the needle in my vein for so long that it got irritated. I even complained that I wanted it out and for a while they didnt want to remove it until after I complained a few times more. Cant believe this hospital
I would appreciate the work by the doctors and other staff of this hospital. My grandmother was admitted in this hospital last week , when she got a fracture in her leg. The staff came out to be so generous and they took care of her in a very well manner.
My wife preferred Johnson. A friend received excellent emergency service and critical care at Ben Taub. If it's possible get to another hospital with more friends or relatives to help during recuperation or rehab afterwards. Neglect during recovery is an unfortunate thing.
A family member came in for a gunshot wound he was rapidly seen and received the best care at ICU. Their nurses had the best skills and compassion for him and the family and friends. I loved that the nurses were very vigilant of his rights and included the family on the plan of care. Since his prognosis was poor they educated us about Life Gift. We decided that even though he couldnt live with his wound then he could at least live by helping others and donated his organs. His organs helped a few people. I will never forget their efforts and legacy they helped to ensure even after his death.
Great trauma center..which explains why you'll get seen quick if you have severe trauma... waited in ER for over 12 hrs and got told you've been here the longest but we take in the severely sick in first..sooo obviously sicker people were coming in and never got seen. ended up leaving.Have been here other times for myself and my mother, once finally taken in they do the best they can to treat you and do everything to find what is causing your discomfort. If time management could get better I'd rate a 5.
